1. What is the start-up story behind your brand?
First off I would like to say Ive always been a creative individual with an eye for style and design, it comes to me very naturally. I would have never thought about designing shirts but i couldn’t get the idea out of my head and with the encouragement of my friends i decided to give it a shot.
What inspired me for my brand FEAR where 80s movies. I have a great passion for 80s movies especially the horror genre, i love the style and swagger that is shown in that era. With my brand FEAR I’m expressing my creativity and style while also adding my own retro dark feeling to to the clothing.
Ive decided to start FEAR because not only do i get to show my unique style and designs to the world, but its something i fell in love to do, designing my own clothing. FEAR started out for myself and my buddy’s to rock but I believe i can have an impact on modern StreetWear today.
2. Describe your visual concepts, what is it like? What are three words that best define it?
I love watching Retro horror movies and Stephen king movies I’m a huge fan of his work. Overcast & rainy days, weather help me get into the mood to spark up an idea. The most important is just my imagination, When an idea hits me i can vision it on a shirt and i go from there. One word- Different.
3. In three words, characterize who you are.
Calm, Creative and Passionate
4. What’s something that’s always running inside your mind lately?
My next trip to Disney World. Its something i cant wait for, to take in all the magic.
5. Being in your position, I’m sure it can be overwhelming with the workload.
How do you achieve balance in life?
Between my day job and my clothing brand FEAR sometimes it can be hard to find some time for myself but I always make sure i do. I find balance by going out with my buddy’s, i can always count on them for some good humour. Im always up for watching movies especially a horror or good thriller. I love playing my video games especially Fifa 14 right now.
I also find time for the gym it helps me think clearer and keeps me refreshed. One thing that is very important to me though is my family. I try spending as much time as i can with them, I can always count on them for being there for me.
I believe it is very important to make yourself happy before anything else.
6. What’s one incident that would serve as a turning point to your life?
Meeting a special mentor that i can call now a great friend. He has helped me a lot with my life. Thank you LK
7. What three pieces of advice would you give to others when it comes to life & career?
Im 20 years old. Im still learning a lot about life myself. I think Its important to make mistakes and whats actually more important is to learn from your mistakes. I believe you have to step outside your comfort zone and go out into the world and just experience what it has to offer. The earth is here for all of us why not go out and explore.
8. What’s a typical day in your life like?
My life right now is working 40 hours at my day job and working on FEAR on top of all that. I eventually want my brand to be full time for me. But as of right now I usually wake up at 830am, head over to the gym for an hour.
I then work on my designs for FEAR until around 1:00 and then drive on over to work. I work from 1:30pm to 10:30pm, from then on its rest, relax and sleep.
9. What’s one of the highlighting moment in your career? Why is it so?
Selling my first shirt! That was a big moment for me. I felt proud of myself knowing that my time and effort paid off. Seeing my shirts around on others is a great feeling.
10. What stops you from throwing in the towel and giving up during those frustrating days of being in this industry?
Again, FEAR is not a job, its a lifestyle. I love knowing that i started all this. When something is your own you will do whatever it takes to take care of it and thats how i treat my brand FEAR. I know there are going to to be ups and i know there are going to downs, Im ready to take on whatever lies ahead.
11. Biggest risk ever taken?
My biggest risk was starting my brand FEAR. It is far out of my comfort zone, i jumped right into it. Im always learning new things about the clothing industry. This is a huge experience for me.
12. Who has influenced you most and been your greatest inspiration?
My great friend LK. He’s been a huge influence on my life. I cannot thank him enough.
13. How do you go about marketing your business or yourself? What has been your most successful form of marketing?
I love what i design. Whatever i create i wear, it suits my style. My buddy’s and i wear FEAR shirts around, i think its great exposure because people get to see how the shirts look on us and how we rock them.
We are currently on Instagram, Social media is a brilliant way to promote or market something. Instagram has been a huge help for FEAR due to its millions of users. It has helped my brand really get the exposure it needs to branch out, Although i do know there are many other avenues of marketing and advertising which I’m learning about.
14. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years?
I don’t know what the future holds, but i am gaining as much knowledge each and everyday that will help FEAR become a international line over the next several years.
15. What’s the first thing you would say to the world if all attention was on you right now?
